They will serve as Inns to be rented out nightly for guests and visitors to San Diego.
Heritage Park’s nineteenth century Victorian Homes are being transformed from a Park to an enclave of hotel guest room as part of a multi-million dollar restoration.

Are You Ready For The New And Improved iPad

Rumors fly this time of year especially when it comes to Apple products and the iPad in particular. We can’t know for sure who starts those but I read an article by Bloomberg News this morning and it seems that the specific items mentioned would make a lot of sense.
The article referenced an important San Diego company that makes chips that will allow for different types of connections ( both GSM and CDMA). These are the two dominant radio standards for cell phones and smart phones out there. Having chips that would accommodate both types of networks makes sense to me and seems very logical and likely in the new version iPad 2.
The article suggests that Apple will introduce the new version in the first quarter of 2011, several new features that will appeal to the iPad user, including making it thinner. The new chips and several other features like a camera for video calling. I know that I would like to have an iPad now that our MLS and our Standard Forms are accessible from the iPad. I fully expect that many real estate professionals will gravitate to this neat piece of hardware. Currently the iPad still needs a reliable printer app that prints correctly but sending the Contracts to the clients e-mail allows then to print it just fine. When we sync the iPad to our computer, we can also print the contracts or MLS from our Mac or PC. A good work around for the time being. This printing issue will get solved and maybe in this new version?
When I was at ActiveRain Raincamp in San Diego, I was sitting next to a person that was typing away on his iPad during the presentation. As I recall he had a mobile keyboard as part of the case that housed the iPad. Pretty cool. I really liked the idea of being able to take notes on a small profile computer that is easy to hold in your lap and the iPad has so many other cool applications. Read the rest of this entry »

Meet Some of The Many Faces at the San Diego Zoo

Our world famous San Diego Zoo came about after the 1915 Panama California Exposition that was held in Balboa Park. The Exposition had a large number of exotic animal exhibits and when the exposition closed, the animals were abandoned and left to the City of San Diego. That lead to formation of the Zoological Society that would be entrusted with their care. A permanent tract of land within Balboa Park ( leased by the city) was designated for the permanent exhibits at the Zoo in the Park.
Over the years and with a number of significant benefactors, the zoo has grown to it’s 107 acres of parkland with over 800 species and a collection of over 4000 animals. The San Diego Zoo was a pioneer in the “Cageless” exhibit concept. The San Diego Zoo is a world leader in both species preservation as well as it’s world wide conservation efforts.
Throughout the Zoo grounds, the exhibits are designed around particular habitats. Currently there are 9 habitat regions ( see display and habitat map ) represented in the park with collections of animals and native plants representative of each region. The entire park is maintained as an arboretum with native and exotic plants ( and a notable rare plant collection ) represented throughout the park.

Microsoft Grand Opening it’s Retail Store In San Diego

Microsoft Grand Opening

If you are a PC user, this was a major event that happened here in San Diego. I was not able to make it Thursday Jun 24th to the Grand Opening of Microsoft’s First Retail Store in San Diego but the celebration is still going on. And had I arrived just one hour earlier, I would been able to see the musician John Legend perform live there right in the front window of the store ( see white Yamaha piano in window) .
Even though I am an Apple user, I also use Microsoft on my Mac, so I am interested in Microsoft. What a beautiful store and the amount of personnel made me think I was in the Apple store. I was spoken to the moment I entered the store and then soon spotted what had to be one of the most intriguing notebook computers I have ever seen. In fact I couldn’t even figure out how to open it.
