Dear Marilyn,
As someone who has been through this when you lost your precious Bogey, the ache is more profound than most anyone could know. Thankfully Lauren is still doing well. I can't thank you enough for the wonderful comment and if you hadn't been driving when I saw you last, it would have been big hugs all around. I so admired you as a client and as a long time friend . When you lost Bogey, I knew your heart was so broken and I only wish there would have been something I could have done to ease the pain. The people I love and revere in my life have always been parents to the little ones because they all for sure know how to love and what it really means to be loved in perfect way. Our little ones make us better than we could even have been without them and when we lose them, we ache in a way that takes so long to heal, and for some of us, parts of us never do heal.
Marilyn, Thank you again for being a part of our celebration of our little CeCe's life. And I am so glad that I could know Bogey and Lauren. They will always be very special in life and after.
Always, William

Having lost my little Bogey last year, I,too, took great comfort in The Rainbow Bridge. CeCe had a wonderful home and wonderful life with you. May your beautiful memories and pictures be of some comfort, as she lives forever in your hearts. Fondly, Marilyn

Only yesterday did I learn of the passing of your dear little CeCe.

While reading your story and viewing the photos, I was overcome with sadness. I, too, have lost a pet that was very dear to me. Anyone who has ever had a pet to love and care for understands how sad it is to say good-bye. May the beautiful memories of the happy times you shared with CeCe be a comfort to you now and in all the days ahead.

Love, Sandy Mathews

Marc, Bill, Tinker

It does just seem like yesterday we were all running around on the 11th fairway . . . I am so sorry about your loss. You all were the BEST parents ever for CeCe. She had great love and life with you -- We all miss her and the void is both seen and felt. Love the Scofield's.

Katherine and Rachel's day was always so much brighter when they saw Cece and Tinker on their walks. The excitement in their faces showed the love they have for your 2 angels. We will all miss Cece very much.

Bill and Marc,

My heart goes out to you and you live through this loss. My Bogey enjoyed meeting CeCe so know they must be romping through the hills without pain.

Bill--What a beautiful tribute to CeCe. We know how much she meant to you & Marc. Thought you would be interested in reading the piece below. Our love--Sheldon & Stephen
Never knew the name of the man who wrote this before but I do know the story behind it: It is from a speech made in 1870, when the man's dog, a foxhound named Drum was shot. His owner sued the man who shot Drum. There was no evidence even, but after he finished his speech, the jury was in tears. They fined the man $500, even though the maximum fine was $150.
It is claimed that George Vest was a 19th century lawyer defending a client.
Gentlemen of the jury, the best friend a man has in this world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son and daughter that he has reared with loving care may become ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name, may become traitors to their faith. The money that a man has he may lose. It flies away from him when he may need it most. Man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees and do us honor when success is with us may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our head.
The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his DOG. A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wing and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens. If fortune drives the master forth an outcast into the cold, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him to guard him against danger, and to fight against his enemies. When the last scene of all comes, and death takes his master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by his graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws and his eyes sad, but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even to death.
-Senator George Vest, 1870.
