San Diego City Council will finally be receiving the growth plan for the city that is taken eight years and hundreds of public meetings and formal hearings.
Unparalleled in San Diegos history, the combined participation of input from as many as 50 community planning groups has finally been completed and has generated a new San Diego city plan to be next presented to the city council to buy into the wisdom of the plan as well as taking the fundamental actions necessary to implement it.
This new plan also represents another milestone in San Diegos history. For the first time, the growth plan consists more of redevelopment and infill as opposed to new development and infrastructure.
Critics of the new plan, called the new plan chock-full of well-meaning platitudes that lacks in assurances that the needs and services of the older communities making up San Diego, will have priority over new development.
