To stave off the identity thieves, major credit cards companies have come out with a new super safe credit vehicle that will go a long way in protecting your identity from would be Internet thieves.
They are providing a virtual credit card number that is secured to your regular credit card account number that can be used one time for a single purchase and then disposable or may be assigned to one vendor or store that you buy regularly from. The is number is encrypted and can only be used as you direct it and is useless to the would be thievery of hackers and Internet snoops.
The benefit of course is to limit the amount of personal information you have out there in cyberspace. Currently Bank Of America, The Discover Bank and the Citi Group are offering the virtual credit card numbers but in time others will surely follow.
I haven’t seen a monthly credit card statement as yet using one of these virtual numbers but with the level of technology available, I am only surprised these have shown up sooner.
